This image:

shows a large portion of the teaser poster appeared at the Berlin International Film Festival. It shows a lady walking in a street alone. Some kind of menu is written on the window glass and a bullet hole is visible on the right. The elevated rail line makes it looks more like a street in New York or Chicago, rather than Shanghai. Story of Lady from Shanghai is set at multiple locations around the world and Shanghai is only one of several cities to be featured in the film. Part of the URL of the official site is also reveal on the poster (http://www.ladyfromshanghai.com). Also according to World Entertainment News Network, Rachel Weisz just said that she would play a pregnant woman in the film and she would not have to "hide her bump". (click here) Since Lady from Shanghai has already been postponed to next year, her pregnancy will not be a matter any more.

From IMDB The Lady From Shanghai message board:

Martacruise claimed that "yesterday, at the press conference of rome, nicole said that she has abandoned the film, THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, because she doesn't want to be so far from her husband"

Not sure how true it is. Any updates?

You may be right about this:
Quote:
Speaking at the Rome Film Festival, Hollywood star Nicole Kidman said she will give up the role in Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai's project 'Lady from Shanghai'.

The Oscar-winning actress said she wanted to accompany her newlywed singer husband Keith Urban, who entered a rehabilitation treatment center Thursday for alcohol abuse.

The Grammy-winning singer is publicly acknowledged as a former cocaine addict.

Despite the cancellation of the Hong Kong project, the Australian beauty seems to have a compact schedule next year with two blockbusters, 'Gone with the Wind' and the 150 million U.S.dollars project 'The Golden Compass', co-starring Daniel Craig.

I've been a fan of hers since Labyrinth. I'd also like to suggest Kate Winslet or Naomi Watts for the role.

just NOT scarlett johansson PLEASE. (sorry loki)....

i'd WISH he'd take someone and make them into something new or something special.. as he did for michelle reis, carina lau, karen mok, charlie young... where they never seemed vacant or empty. or where u could tell the difference between THAT and soulless.

but who do i actually like well enough to see that happen to?

who would have patience for him (maybe nic caught onto the rumor of how long Ashes of Time took...hehe)....

If finding someone looks alike, Kate Beckinsale could be an answer. Not sure if she could fit in a WKW film. But I think she can act.

Monica Bellucci would be great. Naomi Watts is not bad either. But i would really like Charlotte Gainsbourg to take over Nicole Kidman.

She was pretty good in The Aviator, but she has to stop taking mediocre roles like Underworld 1&2, Van Helsing and Click. She has yet to shake off that 'English rose' tag.

i’m sure basic instinct 2 wasn’t so good, but what did you think of charlotte rampling’s presence when she was on-screen?
