Ashes of Time Redux Gala Premiere
"It was an emotional evening at the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival’s Gala Premiere of Wong Kar Wai's Ashes of Time Redux.
The special screening saw an overwhelming display of emotion and affection from the cast of the film, Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Carina Lau and Charlie Young, as well as director Wong Kar Wai, who paid tribute to the late Leslie Cheung with the lighting of candles at the beginning of the red carpet.
Marking the 6th anniversary of Leslie Cheung's death on April 1st, guests at the Gala Premiere were also moved by a video tribute, produced by Jettone to remember the late Hong Kong entertainment legend and star of Ashes of Time Redux, Leslie Cheung, which was screened at the gala reception. These included remembrances from dignitaries of the entertainment industry like Eric Tsang, John Woo, Alan Tam as well as a distinctly moving tribute by Cecilia Cheung, who "introduced" her son Lucas to the late Leslie Cheung.
After the director and the cast arrived on time, they came up on stage to meet the crowd. Due to the overwhelming response, the interviewing session was prolonged and, together with the tribute paid by many guests to Leslie, caused a delay in the screening of the film Ashes of Time Redux."
