I have had this blu-ray disc and recently had the change to sit down and really watch it.

I've only seen '2046', 'Chungking' before watching 'Fallen Angles'. I really didn't think it would be able to top my love for 'Chungking', but it came very close.

First, the disc quality is very high. The film was beautifully reproduced on blu in my opinion. I even thought it was ever so slightly better than the Criterion release 'CE' in terms of PQ. But 'CE' on Criterion is still wonderful. What I love about both of these on blu is that they seem to have done everything possible to give you the best reproduction of the film without the negatives of excessive DNR, etc. So far 'CE' and 'FA' look great on blu with the proper amount of film grain still left in them.

Just as WKW at his best, this film is shot gorgeously with a visual style in which every angle and shot seems to be set up to enhance the mood of what is being portrayed in each scene. My favorite part of the direction is that he uses so many different techniques without it ever feeling forced. So many directors fall into the trap where certain effects seem to exist just for the sake of existing but I never feel that with WKW, especially in this film.

I also love how he is able to take moments in the film and let them run on, adding the realistic feel of the mood, yet as a viewer I never feel 'bogged down' from this effect. I don't like to talk much about the plot, but it was reminiscent of 'Chungking' but with vastly different characters, almost telling two separate stories.

Just another beautiful, amazing film from WKW in my opinion.

No, it's great news! lol :)

I hope they have a region B edition available. Australia suffers from a dearth of WKW love. :(

(Region 2 refers to DVDs only.)
And don't worry, the BD of "Fallen Angels" (as well as "Happy Together") is region-free!
